Finally back after a busy holiday season. I got a special holiday treat of fabric shopping in Paris and London. Janssen & Janssen in Paris was the absolute highlight of the trip for me. While drooling over the exquisite fabrics there, I met fellow blogger Julie from jetsetsewing.com. Check our her site as she posted some great pics of the inside of Janssen.
Janssen does have the most georgeous fabrics in the world with prices to match. Fortunately I had the good sense to take my husband shopping at Chanel first, so the cost of fabric to make my own Chanel jackets seemed like a virtual steal! The trims were equally pricy but unlike anything else. Some of my selections:

This is a pic from the Alexander McQueen show at the NYC Met several years ago. I fell in love with this design but felt it needed modifying to be wearable, at least where I would go.

Hi Mary, It was fun bumping into you at Janssens, and I wish we’d had more time to talk. Good going on taking your husband to Chanel first, as it does make it look like you’re “saving” money. I think the made-to-measure haute couture versions of the Chanel suits (as opposed to the off-the-rack suits) start at more than $50,000. That lace top is beautiful; great job!
It was great meeting you also; small world! I know what you mean about the custom Chanel suits. I don’t think mere mortals can even get one. If you haven’t seen “The Secret World of Haute Couture” google and watch it. I followed your blog about the rest of your trip; looks like you had a wonderful time. I checked out other shops in Paris and also London but none came close to Janssens. I’ll be following your blog to see your wonderful creations.
