Papermaple Studio, New Orleans, LA
February 7-12, 2022
Are you hesitant to sew lace? Unsure of how to choose a suitable pattern for lace fabric and how to stitch it together? Join Mary Funt and Helen Haughey for an in-depth exploration of different types of lace fabrics, choosing the best construction method and many more couture level techniques to ensure success. You’ll make a muslin mockup of your garment prior to class which will be fine tuned for a perfect fit. Then we’ll explore possible layouts to highlight your chosen lace and discuss the best techniques for construction. Both Helen and Mary will assist you during the construction process and provide detailed notes for completing your project at home if necessary.
You will also have an opportunity to examine lace garments made by the instructors. You’ll see first-hand, the difference between types of lace and why construction methods for each type differ. You’ll also explore varying ways to handle hems and edges.
The class is held in a very well equipped studio in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Promenade Fabrics is nearby for needed supplies.
