Future Classes

I’m working on my schedule for upcoming classes and asking for input as to what you would like to see offered. In the past I’ve done in-person sessions in south Florida and Rhode Island. A benefit of the pandemic was to make Zoom classes more mainstream. I’ve done numerous trim classes via Zoom as well as individual sessions tailored to creating a custom dressform and have been experimenting with French jacket classes.

Possible options include: in-person sessions in south Florida (Palm Beach Gardens area). Other locations are also under consideration. What topics are of interest? I’ve done sessions on French jacket construction, drafting a personal moulage/sloper and creating a custom dressform. Several have taken my boucle bomber jacket class and I’m scheduled to teach that in Portland, OR in October. Any interest in a bomber jacket class/ custom trim class at Mendel Goldberg Fabrics?

Zoom classes are great. They reach a worldwide audience plus no travel expenses, but virtual lessons remove the opportunity for hands-on fitting.

  1. I’d love a class at Mendel Goldberg as long as I don’t have to bring a sewing machine! I don’t travel with one…so, there’s that. Couture methods only!

    1. Thanks Marsha. Trim classes don’t require a machine. Unfortunately Alice doesn’t have machines and I can’t transport machines to the store.

  2. Helo from Australia! I would love a zoom class on trim making, the time zone difference could make itinteresting haha.

    1. I’ll try and schedule a trim session at a time that isn’t crazy for those in Australia. I have done classes for other groups in Australia.

  3. I would love to take an in person class in Las Vegas area (Summerlin is not chaotic like the strip and only 20 minutes from the strip). The zoom classes are not my thing. Almost any subject is great. I would like the jacket fitting or any pattern fitting. Most of your subjects are of interest to me. I did the zoom trim classes but don’t enjoy zoom. I did privates with you but also zoom. No more zoom for me 😆.

    1. Thanks for the feedback. Some love Zoom, others hate it. I’m willing to travel if you find a location and possible attendees. I’m not familiar with sewing resources in the Las Vegas area, so someone local would be very helpful.

  4. As one of your interested overseas followers, I would greatly appreciate (!!) online classes, particularly on garment construction – e.g. French Jacket etc.

    1. Thanks. An online French jacket class is certainly possible. The construction process is easily demonstrated online but you would be on your own for fitting.

  5. I have loved the Zoom trim classes! I would love the Mendel Goldberg fabrics location for a class/classes….

    1. It would be fun to clone a garment. I love that Chanel dress you made. We can call it “cloning cloning couture”!

  6. Like the others, I took your Zoom trim class and enjoyed it. I watched the video again while I slowly worked through the steps. It helps my learning process. I have considered attending your French jacket class in person, but travel is a hassle these days, especially taking a machine. I would like a Zoom class on the Bomber jacket that included a class for tips on working with the boucle/tweed fabrics. I want to use them in other garments, such as a tank top or cape blazer. Chanel uses those fabrics in so many different ways.

    1. I supply sewing machines plus equipment for all my classes in FL but you still need to travel. More Zoom classes being planned. Thanks for your reply.

  7. Loved the trim class at Mendel Goldberg as well as the French jacket and dressform classes in FL. What about a tailored blazer or tailored shirt (e.g., Liberty of London with pattern matching) class? I truly appreciate your fitting expertise/help as well as couture garment construction techniques.

  8. I would like French Jacket construction so I can finish my Chanel jacket start. Something in the middle of the country might be easier for people to travel to rather than one of the coasts. Boulder, CO has Elfreide’s Fine Fabric and Studio Bernina in nearby Louisville, CO would have the workspace.

    1. I’m happy to travel but since I’m not familiar with the locations you mentioned, it would work better if you could give more info. Contact the locations suggested and see if you can get names/emails of those who might be interested. If I have enough attendees to cover the costs, I would be happy to explore traveling to either location. Thanks for your feedback.
